My love for travel began when I was just nine years old. My parents took me to Kenya to visit my aunt and uncle, who were living there at the time. I have such fond memories of that trip—the warm hospitality, the vibrant culture, and the humbling experience of seeing a completely different way of life. That was where the spark was lit.

After finishing school, I joined the Royal Navy, which truly opened the doors to explore the world. I was fortunate to be posted to Hong Kong for a year, and since then, I haven’t stopped travelling. Along the way, I’ve built friendships across the globe—so visiting friends abroad adds an extra layer of joy to my adventures.

I love the freedom that comes with travel. Immersing myself in different cultures, tasting new cuisines, and connecting with locals and fellow travellers brings me so much happiness. The world is a fascinating place, and I’m always excited to meet people from different backgrounds and hear about their lives and journeys. I’ve travelled extensively—from bustling cities to remote islands—and I’m proud to include the Falkland Islands among the many unique destinations I’ve explored.

For the past 20 years, my son has been my travel companion. From the age of just three months—when I took him to New Zealand—he's been by my side, experiencing the world and all its richness. Now that he’s older, his girlfriend has taken over the travel buddy role (I’ve been gracefully replaced!), but I’m so proud to have instilled in him a deep appreciation for travel and culture.

My more recent travels through Indonesia have been especially moving. I’ve witnessed how people can live with so little yet radiate joy, kindness, and generosity. From Bali to the Komodo Islands, I’ve been reminded that true happiness often comes from simplicity, connection, and living in the moment.

For me, the holiday begins the moment it's booked. The countdown to departure is filled with excitement, and there’s nothing quite like the feeling of taking off—knowing that soon, I’ll be in a new place, ready to embrace all it has to offer.
